We lost a great man, a great professional, a great ranger

Our friend and colleague Mr. Martin Mthembu has died after a car accident in South Africa.
A huge tragedy from a human and professional point of view.
He has been working on the front of the elephant poaching war and many elephants owe their lives to the work of the rangers very well trained by Martin Mthembu. The Elephant Action League and its director Mr. Andrea Crosta are deeply grieved by such sad news. You will not be forgotten and we will continue fighting poaching also in your memory, Martin.
Below here the post from PAMS Foundation, Tanzania.
Martin has trained 1000s of Field Rangers over his 23 year working career in Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola & Swaziland, and in this process has helped inspire rangers and save wildlife. Martin is one of our few all time conservation heroes!
We at PAMS Foundation have never met a more exceptional and inspirational trainer of Rangers in our entire careers. To us, Martin will always be the benchmark. The best of the best! A great and strong man, we mourn your passing at the time that we so wish we could be at Msembe together, even tonight, sharing dinner and laughing as we discuss how the day’s training had gone!
Giant tears have flowed in the PAMS camp today.
Thank you for all the knowledge and inspiration you have passed on to our rangers.
In your honour, we will be dedicating the IUCN Best Practice Field Ranger Training Guideline that is currently be developed to you.
Our legendary star, our rock! Forever in our hearts, minds and a motivating force for us all to always give of our best! Bwana Martin!!!
16 August 1968 to 2 August 2014. R.I.P.
PAMS Foundation team and all who loved you for who you are and what you represent.
